Seth's Well Visit
This will be Seth's last appointment with the doctor who has been our pediatrician for the last 7 years. She is moving onto a new office within the same practice, but I think we're going to continue at our current location. She's a mom of three, and I really like her as a doctor, a mom, and a woman. We will miss her.
Anyway, he's 4.5 months old and received his 4 month shots. Of course he screamed, but I reminded myself that vaccines are far less traumatic than contracting the diseases they are intended to prevent. He was a little fussy throughout the afternoon and evening which is unusual for him, but I gave him a dose of Tylenol before bed and he slept through the night just fine.
Our pediatrician also gave us the green light to introduce oatmeal cereal since he has already been having rice cereal in his bottle and some from a spoon at dinnertime. We will wait until 5 months to start orange veggies.
After checking him out she said that developmentally he's in line with a 6 month old, which makes sense considering he was two older siblings. He rolls front to back and back to front, and holds his head up well. He also does plenty of "talking." He almost always has someone talking to him so it would stand to reason that he is going to try to communicate as well.
Seth weights 15.5 lbs which puts him in the 32nd percentile. He's in the 96th percentile for height which is 26 3/4." That's no surprise either. He did lose weight early on with his feeding issues and illness, but he's been steadily gaining since and there's no reason to be concerned. There's height on both sides of our families so I would expect him to be longer than average.
All in all, it was a great appointment.
