Quarantine Life

Sal was teaching and I was on a conference call which meant Seth was left to his own devices. I found him outside in his pajamas laying on the grass playing with his trucks in the dirt. I was too slow getting the camera, but you get the idea.

Mother's Day Flowers

Bird's eye view of my gorgeous Mother's Day flowers. They've all opened beautifully. Sal's first choice in flower shops, Primrose Flower Shop in Etna, was closed. He tried a new florist, Zee Flowers, on Mount Royal Boulevard. I love them. It's rare for roses to open so nicely, and these look amazing. I'm still waiting for some of the carnations to open. They're starting. I love the combination of flowers and colors, very bright and cheery.

Thanks to quarantine hair, this year's photo is in black and white. What a fun day though. Emmy and Seth made me breakfast and coffee, and all three decorate the house with ribbons and signs. Sal bought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers, and also the first two seasons of Mercy Street  on DVD to watch. We finished Poldark, which had been our quarantine go-to. A pair of new flip flops will arrive later this week. I am so ready for summer, but with temps hanging out in the 40s, there's no rush. I missed Mother's Day brunch out, but it really was a very good day.

To finish off the basement, our contractor will also be adding baseboard and trim around the windows and doors.  We also have a plan for finishing the steps, and while we would obviously finish the steps from garage to the basement, we also going to finish the steps from the garage into the kitchen (shown).  At the same time we're going to replace the doors between the basement and kitchen and the garage. As per code, they need to be exterior, fire-rated doors. We ...
