I wouldn't call myself an Elvis fan, but who can go to Memphis and not visit Graceland? Not us. It was our first stop of the day. We booked a tour online and I had planned on spending about two hours at Graceland. We ending up spending hours and hours. In addition to touring Graceland itself, which was amazing, we went into the various museums they have onsight and toured his private plane as well. I learned so much about Elvis and gained a new appreciation for what he did for music, and I feel a crazy amount of regret that his life took the turn it did. Tragic. I came away from this experience a fan. Moral of the story - when in Memphis, visit Graceland. It as well past lunchtime when we left Graceland. We made a righthand turn out of the Graceland parking lot and ended up. . .in MISSISSIPPI. We'd all been there before, and this was unexpected, but we found a Waffle House. Service was incredibly slow, but we enjoyed the typical WH fare. We wanted to fit both Stax and Sun Studi...

This morning we woke up early, hit the breakfast buffet in the hotel lobby, and made it in time for our bat factory tour of the Louisville Slugger Museum at 9am. Except, our tickets weren't for 9am, they were for 10. So, we toured the museum, exhibits, and gift shop and did the tour last. It doesn't matter how you "do" Louisville Slugger - tour or museum first. The batting cage was open so Sal took a few swings using a bat built to the dimensions of Mickey Mantle's bat. We visited Louisville Slugger before when the girls were little, and it's a nice place. Seth seemed to enjoy touring the bat factory too. Sal probably could have spent more time here, but I was looking at the 6 hour drive ahead of us to Memphis, and I definitely wanted to have dinner on Beale Street . We had lunch at a Subway somewhere in Tennessee, and then we hightailed it to Memphis. We had a room for two nights at the Homewood Suites on Poplar. Downtown Memphis hotels are expensive so we ...

This is our first trip traveling with dialysis. Sal packed up plenty of supplies, and we loaded the cycler into the car, and off we went.  Sal taught some of his classes a lesson on Stax and mentioned wanting to go there. It's in Memphis so he didn't have to ask me twice. Our first stop through was Louisville - the halfway point between Pittsburgh and Memphis.  Getting to Louisville took more than the planned upon 6 hours. First I received a speeding ticket in Mukingum County in Ohio. Then the Culver's we pulled into for dinner was drive-thru only. Finally, an interstate in Ohio was completely closed to traffic due to roadwork. We did eventually make it to Louisville, but by the time we got checked in, dialysis set up, and turned out the lights, it was midnight. What.a.day.
