Abstract Artists

Image
Since Seth was born, I haven't gotten to spend a whole lot of time with only the older children. I thought we could all use a fun night out, and found an art class at the library. I had no idea what to expect.  One of the librarians read the children a story about Wassily Kandinsky , an artist I had never heard of before, called The Noisy Paintbox . She held their attention, and I enjoyed learning about him as well. Kandinsky, for those of us who don't know, was an abstract artist.  When the librarian finished reading, she sent all the children back to a long row of tables. They had both pastels and water color paints to use. They were supposed to develop a story line through a series of symbol-like pictures which they drew on paper using pastels. Once they had all of their characters drawn they painted over the entire piece using water colors. The effect was really quite cool, but I don't know how impressed the girls really were.

Great-Grandpa

Today I took Seth to Franklin to meet his great-grandpa. Over the winter my grandfather's health went into a state of decline and now he's in a nursing home. He had been asking to see Seth, and I wanted to visit before I went back to work. It's unfortunate that Seth won't have any memories of his great-grandparents, but the girls will have plenty of stories to share with him. I can't believe I'm posting this picture of the three of us. I hate how pregnant I still look. I know Seth is only two months old, but my stomach simply isn't shrinking and I'm having the hardest time losing weight. Everyone says I need to be more patient and kind to myself, but I'm frustrated. I'm hoping someone day I will lose the weight and can look back on this picture and be proud of my hard work and determination.

Two Months

Here we are celebrating 2 months already. Seth fun facts: Weight is just under 13lbs. Smiles are fleeting. Drinking 3oz bottles. Still waking around 2am and again between 4 and 5am. Lots of kicking, kicking, kicking.

Happy Easter

Sal and I debated on taking Seth to my sister's for Easter. He is clearly fighting some kind of bug and his breathing is quite labored. It's concerning. We've had him in and out of the pediatrician's office, and despite a breathing treatment we haven't seen any real improvement. I plan to see the pediatrician again tomorrow. Seth's eating and sleeping habits haven't changed, even with whatever is going on, so I'm just not sure what to think. He's not acting like a sick baby. He's not fussy or cling-y either, or at least no more than you would expect from a two month old. Anyway, we did decide to spend Easter with my family and here are a couple pictures. I'm still hiding behind people because I have a lot baby weight to lose. I should embrace it, but no.
