Ten Months

Another month has come and gone. Seth is growing and learning more each and every day. We've hit a rough patch as far as sleeping goes which seems to happen every time he gets a month older, but I think this time it's related to teething.

His upper middle right tooth poked through, and the left is right behind it. Meanwhile the upper lateral incisors are continuing to work their way down. Poor baby is a mess.

Seth continues to gag on table foods so we're continuing purees. Both daycare and our pediatrician have said that this is normal for some kids. We need to continue offering table food, and one day he'll just "get it." Because he likes a wide variety of purees and will play with food on his tray, Dr. Bhat has ruled out a textures issue. So, I guess we'll just roll with it.

Now for what he IS doing:

• He points. The first time I saw him do it, I thought it was a fluke.
• He claps.
• He drums. Yes, he smacks the table or any surface really, and we play along by smacking the same surface right after him. He loves this game, and he "gets" that he's being imitated.
• He's pulling up and has taken a couple steps to move further down the couch or where he is, but to go any distance, he drops to the floor and crawls. So, I wouldn't say he's cruising yet, but he's close.
• He opens doors and drawers. He unloads his diaper bag and toy bin. Basically, he's into anything and everything.
• He's starting to show interest in climbing, the steps and onto the fireplace hearth. Obviously there are some safety concerns in these regards and we're taking care of that.
• He "talks" constantly. With four older people in the house he hears a lot of conversations and someone is always talking to him, but on the flip side, he has no real reason to try to talk since there's always someone to just assume what he needs or talk for him.

 I enjoy watching him grow so much, but it's bittersweet. It goes by far too quickly.
