Poor Seth

Now the little one has a virus. Daycare said Seth had no appetite and was gagging on his food and didn't want a bottle. Today I took him to the doctor and found out that while he still has fluid in his ears, it's not infected so the pediatrician thinks this is a virus. She checked his throat and it's red, swollen, and blistered.

The pediatrician said this could last another day or two.

She said to give him Motrin every six hours to keep the pain in check, and to ensure he's drinking plenty of fluids. Since he's not eating she was adamant about making sure he gets fluid with calories, in other words, juice. I wasn't sure how juice would feel on the blisters so I picked up Pediasure and some pear juice since I thought that would be pretty bland.

There's no way Seth can go to school tomorrow so I called my mom to see if she could come down a day early. She was planning on being here tomorrow anyway, and she said that was fine. I'll go into work and she'll stay here with him.

Seth hasn't been himself lately, but with everything he's been through lately it's not surprise. Ear infection, multiple antibiotics, teething, now a virus.

This too shall pass. This too shall pass.

It's been almost 8 months

I'm not sure why I'm posting this now. Eight months seems like such a random milestone. Why not 6? Why not wait until 12 months, a full year? But no, 8 months it is. Girls Weekend

In what may seem like complete craziness on my part, I want to take the Sarah and Emily to Disney World before school starts in the fall. I’m not kidding when I say it’s been a long year and I feel like we just need to get away to the happiest place on Earth for a few days. Kevin and I took the girls to Disney last January for his brother’s wedding so I do have some idea of what I’d be getting myself into. That helps. Sarah still talks about that trip. She remembers flying on the purple plane (Southwest), throwing up in the castle (at breakfast with the princesses), and riding Dumbo (she must have ridden it no less than 20 times and of course it had the longest lines). I still remember the sheer joy on her face when she met Mickey and Minnie and all the other characters too. Emily was sort of “eh” on meeting them. Hello World. It's me, Dana.

Sarah and Emily, my adorable daughters, are the "two little girls" going "for a walk in the wide, wide world". Bonus points if you know from which classic children's book this line was shamelessly stolen. . . and slightly modified.
